A new Chick-fil-A is planned for Burlington.

The new location will be located at 1477 University Drive. The 4,500-square-foot store will hold 138 people and will have an indoor play area for children.

Work has begun at the site and should be complete by May, a company spokeswoman said.

It will be the fourth location in Alamance County, joining spots on Garden Road, on the Elon University campus and in Burlington Square Mall.

THERE'S A NEW insurance office in Graham.

Jon Webster has opened Jon Webster Insurance at 122- A E. Pine St. across from the post office.

Webster spent six years selling home and farm insurance for Alamance Farmers Mutual before deciding to go out on this own.

"I continue to offer home products through Alamance Farmers but also have very competitive rates for auto, motorcycles, RV's, and all other personal lines of insurance with national companies," he said in an e-mail. He also offers commercial insurance for small businesses.

The hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday "but feel free to call my office number anytime as you never can tell when I may answer - Sunday morning may be the only time I don't answer."

The office is located at 122-A E. Pine St. in Graham across the road from the Post Office – look for the red door facing the carwash. "I also offer commercial insurance for small businesses too. Call or come by to see how low your insurance rates can go."

Call 226-1020 or write to jwebster@jonwebsterinsurance.com.

A MEBANE self-storage company has expanded.

Southside Storage at 805 Gibson Road has added a bi-level temperature-controlled building. They say it makes Southside Storage the first facility in Mebane to offer temperature-controlled storage units.

The 12-acre facility has over 500 units.

Navy bowling champion is still rolling strong - Lancaster online.com

Posted: 23 Jan 2010 08:59 PM PST

While serving in the Navy, Charles Riexinger and his ship's bowling team captured the Atlantic Fleet championship.

The retired Manor Township veteran went on to bowl in the All-Navy Tournament.

His success continued through his bowling career, as he managed to bowl his second perfect game to kick off this bowling season, in which he is averaging 200.

Background:
Riexinger, a 1952 McCaskey High School graduate, and his wife, Doris, have two sons and one daughter.

Leagues (averages):
AMF Industrial (197), Indoor World (202).

High scores:
Single, 300 games (April 21, 2001, and Sept. 2, 2009); series, 805 (March 25, 1998).

My greatest moment in the sport:
Being part of the Atlantic Fleet championship team.

Favorite bowling center:
Leisure Lanes.

Type of bowling ball:
Hammer (Vibe+ No Mercy).

The persons who taught me the most are:
Many. I started bowling in 1954 and in that time there have been so many people who have helped me develop my bowling skills that I hate to single out any one person for fear of missing others. I will say that when it comes to technical bowling information and outfitting my bowling balls, I would recognize Gary Brooks at Leisure Lanes. Gary really takes care of me.

The biggest changes that I've seen in the sport:
The ball technology and synthetic lanes.

Great bowling teams:
Include a group of bowlers with different abilities who work together toward a common goal.

Bowling has helped me:
Meet a lot of people and make a lot of friends.

My interest in the sport began:
In 1954 when I started bowling Sunday evenings. My girlfriend, who is now my wife, was home for the weekend from college, so we would bowl on Sunday evenings before she had to return to college.

My secret to success: Be a good listener and watch how others attack the lanes.

Suggestions for others:
Be patient and persevere.

The one thing that would really help to improve this great sport is:
To encourage the LBA and USBA to work with middle and high schools to improve bowling programs at the secondary-education level.

Other bowlers would describe me as:
A competitor but someone, who is easy to get along with and likes to have fun.

My long-term bowling goal:
Keep on bowling so long as my health allows me to.

The thing that brings me good luck in the sport:
My wife.

Alley notes:
Perfect games were rolled by Doug Keller at Clearview; Steve Troop at Leisure; Josh Hart, Rodger Hatfield, Milt Burrell Jr. and Kevin Butler at Garden Spot; and Jerry Clark at Blue Ball; and Mark Myers at Dutch.

An almost-perfect game was rolled by Bob Kennedy (298) at Dutch.

High series (men, 800; women, 700) were rolled by Jason Boozer (801) and Cindy Moyer (702) at Clearview; Jim Farmer (822), Sue Schickel (709), Ann Rummel (707) and Ashley Eby (701) at Leisure; Kerry Smith (714, 705) and Wynetta Martin (734) at Blue Ball; and Joanne Bromirski (706) at Dutch.

Tourney trails:
The Junior Team Tournament will be held Feb. 20-21 at Leisure.
