Owner Harry Patterson, along with Patterson Auto Group CEO Paul Tigrett, family, friends, dignitaries, and the Gold Coat Ambassadors, conducted the ceremonial groundbreaking for a new Honda dealership Thursday morning.

"I am excited about the project, its timing, the facility, and our product — Honda — and our market," Patterson said. We feel it is one of the best projects in Wichita Falls this year."

The 27,300-square-foot state-of-the-art facility, with all the amenities, will be located between Patterson Auto Group on Central Freeway and the Patterson RV Center on Jacksboro Highway. The address is 319 Central Freeway.

Architect for the project is Michael Koen, and the contractor is Anthony Inman Construction, both of Wichita Falls.

Koen said it will be a two-story building and will have an 8,000-square-foot service center. He said the dealership will accommodate 265 vehicles.

The dealership will include sales of new and used vehicles, and will have a parts department, too.

Tigrett said the project will take between nine months and a year to complete, depending on weather.

"They started setting forms today," Tigrett said. "The ball is moving real fast on it."

He added, "We felt that it was a good time to get started with this. Wichita Falls needs the work right now. I feel, with it being a yearlong project, that by the time it is finished and we are ready to move in, everything (economy) will be back to normal."

Tigrett said the project was especially exciting for him, the Patterson family, and the entire staff.

"We've bought several dealerships and remodeled showrooms over the years, but as far as getting to build one just like we wanted, with our signature on it, it is a lot of fun. It is kind of like building a house, you get to put your flavor on it."

Patterson Auto Group is the longest standing family of dealerships in Wichita Falls, Tigrett said, and is about to celebrate 31 years in Wichita Falls. Their other locations (four) offer vehicles from GMC, Cadillac, Pontiac, Buick, Hyundai, Honda, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Kia.

RV Trader has released an iPhone application that is GPS-sensitive and showcases more than 45,000 new and used RVs.
