Dr. Richard Stolsmark
GOLD CANYON, Ariz. - Dr. Richard Lee Stolsmark, 72, of Gold Canyon, died on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, in Mesa, from complications of Lou Gehrig's disease.
He was born in Webster, S.D., on March 1, 1937, son of Leonard and Charlotte (Peterson) Stolsmark. He graduated as salutatorian of the high school in Holmen, Wis., class of 1955. He served in the U.S. Air Force and Reserves. He graduated from the University of La Crosse with a bachelor of science degree in secondary education mathematics: physics/chemistry, received his master of arts degree from Louisiana State Univer-sity in mathematics and earned a Ph.D. in educational administration at the Uni-versity of Wisconsin-Madison.
Dr. Stolsmark taught in the Waukesha Public School System, working as director of K-12 math/sciences, which included writing and receiving a grant to build a planetarium for the Waukesha, Wis., School System. He then served as director of instruction and superintendent of schools in Watertown, Wis., until his retirement in 1992. While in Watertown he implemented the gifted and talented programs and served on numerous boards and commissions during his educational career. He owned and operated a laundromat business in 1974 to 1977 and was a silent partner in his son's karate studios. After his retirement, he moved to Florida where he actively served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, working tirelessly in the field of recruitment for the Coast Guard Academy. He served as district staff officer for career counseling, recruiting students from the seventh district Coast Guard to summer programs at the Academy in New London, Conn. He led his local auxiliary as the flotilla commander; taught Coast Guard classes including advanced navigation; worked in the boat coxswain program and served as honor guard. He was a member of the Retreads Motorcycle Group, enjoying many cross country trips with them which included riding in runs to support the Shriner's Hospital in Tampa, Fla., and the moving Memorial Wall for fallen Vietnam service members. He enjoyed many activities and proudly accomplished a 1,700-mile bicycle trip from Wisconsin to Florida, and navigated and piloted his boat from Florida to Wiscon-sin and back using the inland water system.
He enjoyed reading, playing golf, watching old western movies, and the Green Bay Packers. He loved teaching and his family, had an amazing sense of humor and loved a good time, of which he had many, evidenced by the numerous stories told by his many friends and family.
He and his wife moved to Gold Canyon in 2005, following a season of way too many hurricanes in Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Gold Canyon; a son, Neil (Leonora) of Waukesha; a stepdaughter, Karla (Chris Evenson) Abplanalp of Lake Mills, Wis.; a stepson, Ryan (Darleen) Abplanalp of Wolcott, Ind.; five stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren; his ex-wife, Marion Koch of Oconomowoc, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Sandra Stolsmark of Masa-ryktown, Fla.; two nieces and a nephew; and many friends and other relatives. Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Jeremy; and two brothers, Leonard Charles and Dean.
Wyman Funeral Home of Mesa handled his cremation. There will be no funeral service.

Carrie Grunewald
Carrie L. Grunewald, 35, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at her home.
Carrie was born on May 24, 1974, in Watertown, the daughter of Albert and Dolly Grunewald. She had been an EMT at several area departments and most recently for Kettle Moraine Ambulance Service. She was also employed in the pharmacy at Watertown Regional Medical Center and was working on becoming a physician's assistant. Carrie enjoyed camping, NASCAR, softball, volleyball and bowling.
Survivors include her parents, Al and Dolly Grunewald of Watertown; her sisters and brother, Deborah (Mike) Quinn of Watertown, Wendy (Walter) Groebli of Water-town, Scott Grunewald of Watertown and Cathy (Gary) Higbee of Pewaukee; her nieces and nephews, Luke (Emily) Ingersoll, Curt Inger-soll, Andy (Megan) Goers, Bethany (Jeff) Goers, Hea-ther (Eric) Grunewald, Eric (Jenna) Grunewald, Kyle Higbee and Steven Streich; five great-nieces and -nephews; and her special friend, Speedee the cat. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at River Valley Alliance Church in Watertown with Pastor Larry Thorson officiating. Burial will be in Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia.
Family and friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home and Cremation Service and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Phyllis P. Kehr, 80, of Watertown, passed away at her home on Wednesday morning, Aug. 26, 2009.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. Paul Kuckhahn officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Watertown.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Saturday from noon until the time of the service.

Phyllis Pearl Geisler was born in Lake Mills on Nov. 2, 1928, daughter of Bernard and Ida (Bunke) Geisler. She married Robert T. Kehr on Oct. 13, 1951, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. He preceded her in death on April 1. Phyllis was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ruth Selje.
Phyllis was a graduate of Lake Mills High School and had been employed by the state of Wisconsin in Madison. She and her husband owned and operated Kehr Brothers Heating & Cooling Company in Water-town.
Phyllis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown and a former member of the Watertown Jaycettes, Watertown Turners, Wethonkitha Women and Sisters of the Swish. She had also been a Girl Scout leader. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bridge with her friends, spending time at the lake and gardening.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Kenneth) Gullickson of West Dundee, Ill., and Connie (Richard) Dewitt of Watertown; three grandchildren, Kristin (Aaron) Sainsbury, Erik (Katherine) Gullickson and Robert Dewitt; a great-grandson, Rylan Sainsbury; a sister, Crystal Kurtz of Lake Mills; a sister-in-law, Marion Braun of Las Cruces, N.M.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Erma L. Weber
Erma Louise Weber, 84, of Watertown, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009. Having fought a courageous battle with cancer, Erma was able to say goodbye on her own terms and join her husband, Joseph, for eternity.
Born on April 13, 1925, to Arthur and Esther (Lehmpohl) Blumenberg in Waterloo, she was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and proudly considered herself a farm girl in every way. She married Joseph Weber and they settled on the family farm near Johnson Creek.
Erma and Joe tilled the land, tended their crops, and ran the Jewel Dew Kennels. They also raised a houseful of children. Erma was preceded in death by Joe in 1985 and earlier by her sister, Cecil, and her brother, Lynn.
She was mother to Daniel (Carla) of Lake Mills, Dudley (Dara) of Farmington, Mich., Duane (Cindy) of Cedarburg, Denise (Mike) Kerley of Phoenix, Ariz., Dave (Meredith) of Grafton, Doretta (Jim) Schoenike of Watertown, Darla (Russ) Miller of Franklin, Deidra (Brian) Ulm of Watertown, Darcy (Mark) Zietlow of Watertown, Deanna (Russ) Flath of Elkhorn and Dick (Celeste) of Johnson Creek. Erma was the joyful grandmother to Jessica Weber, Corinne Weber, Colin Weber, Katie Weber, Clu Kerley, Morgan Kerley, Tatum Kerley, Joseph (Kelly) Kerley, Allison Weber, Hannah Weber, Brittni Schoenike, Taylor Schoenike, Harrison Miller, Errin Miller, Tanya Ulm, Kristina Ulm, Quentin Ulm, Jackson Zietlow, Jonathan Zietlow, Ila Flath, Spencer Weber, Joseph Weber, and George Weber; and great-grandmother to Ryan Kerley.
One grandchild, Christopher Kerley, preceded her in death.
Erma graduated from Johnson Creek High School in 1943 and worked in Milwaukee during the war years. She met Joe at the Music Box dance hall in Johnson Creek. They were married in 1949 at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Johnson Creek, taking a horse drawn surrey to the Weber farm just north of town. She was an active member of St. Mary Magdalene parish, serving in numerous ways, including in the choir and as a member of the parish board.
Erma was a diligent worker in all she did - a trait she helped her children to learn, or else. She loved to garden and with her family sold vegetables, especially pumpkins, right off the farm on River Road. If strawberries were in season, Erma would be the fastest picker, even faster cleaner, and maker of the finest jam ever. Anything that could fit into a Mason jar was subject to canning in Erma's kitchen. She was a resourceful cook and producer of schaum torte and baked goods of which memories are made.
At some point, Erma oversaw the delivery of every newspaper that was put on a doorstep in Johnson Creek, especially the Watertown Daily Times. She didn't tolerate much sleeping in and made sure everyone had chores.
During her children's school years, Erma was a fixture in the stands cheering on her latest version of a Blue Jay athlete. She saw to it that all her daughters joined the Watertown Twirlettes, a baton marching group, and learned how to make "Our Favorite Chocolate Cake."
In later years, Erma was a ready traveler with various bus tours. She immersed herself into the goings on at the Jefferson and Watertown Senior Center. A selfless volunteer, she gave of her time to Tomorrow's Hope, Rainbow Hospice, Relay For Life, Meals-on-Wheels, Bread and Roses, nursing homes, and various faithful groups. Should a bingo game break out anywhere in a three-county area, Erma was there, blotter at the ready. She barely hid an addiction to medicinal aloe vera. Eagerly seeking it out in beverage, lotion, and candle form. Erma helped launch the Johnson Creek Historical Society and was most pleased with any event or product of the group.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Watertown Regional Medical Center for their compassionate care during the last weeks.
She will be greatly missed by all she greeted with her sunny disposition. Erma will be remembered at a celebration of life service at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Johnson Creek on Saturday at 2 p.m. The family will hold a receiving line from noon until the time of the service at the church.

JANESVILLE - Mary M. Krause Hansen, age 95, of Janesville, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at her home.
Mary was born on May 25, 1914, in Milford, the daughter of Frank Lawrence and Alice Elizabeth (Cunningham) Schaefer. Mary married LeRoy O. Krause in June of 1936. He died in 1966. She married Mathew J. Hansen Sr., on Jan. 25, 1981. Matt died on Dec. 2, 1994.
Mary graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1930 and attended one year of teachers college at Jefferson County Normal. She taught all grades for seven years at three different Wisconsin country schools, Wolf Country School at Helenville; North Milford Country School; and Joeville School near Helenville.
Mary worked as an inspector at Parker Pen, starting in 1945 and retiring in 1978. She was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed flower gardening and going out to eat. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Mary was known for her wonderful cooking and baking, and her homemade pumpkin bars were a favorite among family and friends. Mary loved a good laugh and was famous for her joke-telling.
Survivors include her two sons, Donald (Bonnie) Krause of Milton and Robert (Sue Neumann) Krause of Edgerton; five grandchildren, Daniel Krause, Vincent (Jessica) Krause, Bradley Krause, Scott Krause and Cindi (Allen) Krause Veak; six great-grandchildren, Kate, Maggie, David, Nathan, Libby and Campbell; her former daughters-in-law, Phyllis Krause, Alice Crawford and Sandra Lunenburg; a sister, Harriet Cardoni, of Delavan; a brother, Robert (Barbara) Schaefer, of Watertown; four stepchildren, Richard (David Eckert) Hansen, of Palo Alto, Calif.; Susan (John) Young, of Beloit; Robert (Marlene) Hansen, of Rockton, Ill.; and Brian (Angela) Hansen, of town of Newark; three stepgrandchildren, McNeil Lunenburg; Mariam Young, and Mathew Young; also many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Mary was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur, Harold and Francis Schaefer; and two stepsons, John and Jerry Hansen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 313 E. Wall St., Janesville, with Father Stephen Umhoefer presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the church. Burial will be at Milton Lawns Memorial Park.

Gilbert Schaefer
Gilbert R. Schaefer, 93, of Watertown, died on Wednes-day, Aug. 26, 2009, at home.
He was born on July 2, 1916, in the town of Milford, the son of the late Herman and Anna (Mueller) Schaefer. Gilbert was a graduate of Lake Mills High School, class of 1934.
He married Elaine Johnson of the town of Shields on Oct. 5, 1940, in Reeseville. She died on May 5, 2002.
Gilbert farmed the homestead farm and then he and his wife bought their own farm on Navan Road in the town of Milford, farming there until 1984, when they moved to Watertown. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Lake Mills and a former member of the BeYeDoers, AARP Chapter No. 3056 of Watertown, and the F&H Community Club.
Gilbert worked for the Jefferson County Agriculture Adjustment Act from 1937 to 1950. He was the town clerk for the town of Milford from 1937 to 1969 and supervisor of the town of Milford from 1969 to 1983.
He and his wife enjoyed traveling during their retirement.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Bobbi) of Columbus and Jeffrey (Susan) of Watertown; two daughters, Marlis Corneille of DeKalb, Ill., and Judy (James) Curler of Lacey, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, Brian (Teri) Mesmer, John (Jennifer) Mesmer, Sherri (Rob) Phillips, Douglas Curler, Bradley and Kimberly Schaefer, Elizabeth (Todd) Clark, Benjamin and Kurt Schaefer, and Marcene (Brian) Phillips; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a very special friend, Marilyn Schulze; other relatives and friends.
Also preceding in death were five sisters, Viola, Florence, Esther, Effie, Almae; three brothers, baby Fred, Alvin and Victor; and a son-in-law, Robert Corneille.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Sunday at United Methodist Church in Lake Mills with the Rev. William R. McBride officiating. Burial will be in Aztalan-Milford Cemetery.

Carolyn Gaebler
Carolyn Farr Gaebler, wife of the Rev. Max D. Gaebler, died early Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at her home in Oakwood Village Retirement Community in Madison.
Born in Indianapolis in 1922, she grew up in Glencoe, Ill. She attended Western College for Women in Miami, Ohio, graduating in 1944. She pursued graduate study in government at Harvard University, where she met the Rev. Max D. Gaebler, then Unitarian minister to students at the historic First Parish in Cambridge. They were married in 1945 at her family home in Glencoe.
She and her husband subsequently lived in Westford, Mass., Davenport, Iowa, and since 1952 in Madison, where her husband served as minister of the First Unitarian Society, a position he occupied until his retirement in 1987.
A committed supporter of social justice issues, she never tired of recounting her experience in the summer of 1943 as a participant in a Quaker sponsored work camp on Chicago's then heavily segregated south side. All her life she remained an ardent advocate for social justice. She loved good music, and for a number of years was a staunch member of the Unitarian Society choir and also of the Madison Philharmonic Chorus.
Carolyn Gaebler is survived by her husband; five children, David, Mary, John, Ralph and Helen; and their families.
A memorial service will be held in the near future at a date to be announced.

John L. Rollert
John L. Rollert, 58, of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly while on vacation on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009.
John was born on May 7, 1951, in Watertown, the son of Lester and Donna Jeane (Holzhueter) Rollert. He was a 1969 graduate of Water-town High School. John married Mary Schubert on Dec. 12, 1970, in Watertown.
John was a route salesman with Tri-County vending in Watertown for the past 12 years. He had also worked for Farm & Fleet in Water-town and Prudential Insur-ance Company.
John was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Watertown. He was an active and long time member of the former Watertown Jaycees and was active member of the River Bend RV Resort. John volunteered at Riverfest for 23 years. He was an avid Packer and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, spending time with his children and grandchildren, hunting and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Rollert of Watertown; four children, John R. (Heather) Rollert of Tampa, Fla., Catherine (Aaron) Oestreich of Watertown, Kevin (Kathleen) Rollert of South Windham, Conn., and Michael (Ashley) Rollert of Watertown; eight grandchildren, Zackery, Tyler, Alexis, Isabelle, Maggie, Ethan, Joseph and Chase; three sisters, Jean Werner of Water-town, Diane (James) Lynch of Watertown and Pamela (Thomas) Olszewski of John-son Creek; sister-in-law, Lola Olson of Tennessee; two brothers-in-law, Gerard Schubert of Berlin and Peter (Gaby) Schubert of Water-town; also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his father- and mother-in-law, Gerald and Jane Schubert.

Lloyd W. Wickus
Lloyd W. Wickus, 85, of Watertown, passed away Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Watertown Regional Medical Center.
Lloyd was born on Aug. 7, 1924, in Baraboo, the son of Warren and Emma (Putt-kamer) Wickus. He was a 1942 graduate of Baraboo High School. Lloyd served in the Army Air Corps from 1943-46. He married Lois Loeffler on May 29, 1949, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Lloyd was a foreman with Wisconsin Bell (Ameritech) for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, past president of Watertown Food Pantry and former elder and usher of the church. Lloyd enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Wickus of Watertown; a daughter, Lori (Rick) Reichert of Watertown; two grandchildren, Nicole (Jake) Schwa-ger of Lebanon and Josh (Abby) Reichert of Lebanon; two great-grandchildren, Tes-sa Schwager and Carter Reichert; one sister, Blanche (Stan) Witz of Astel, Ga.; a niece, Nancy Pickard of Georgia.

HUSTISFORD - Edith Raith of Hustisford was born to eternal life on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at the age of 71 years.
She was born Oct. 7, 1937, in Augsburg, Germany, the daughter of Konrad and Barbara (Phiefer) Gall. Edith loved to grow flowers in her garden and was an avid reader. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing cribbage. Edith loved to cook.
She is survived by her husband, James Raith of Hustisford; her children, James E. Raith Jr. of Hustisford, Joseph Raith of Horicon, John (Julie) Raith of California, Jeannie (Pat) Campbell of Franklin, Jack "Buck" Raith of Hustisford and Jennifer (Tom) Ruetten of Markesan; eight grandchildren; and her siblings, Uta (Peter) Weissmuller, Harriet (Monfred) Brandl and Warner (Marge) Gall, all of Germany; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

LOWELL - Arnold A. Baumann, 68, of Lowell, passed away Sunday afternoon, Aug. 23, 2009, at the Watertown Regional Medical Center.

Arnold Arthur Baumann was born in Beaver Dam on Feb. 12, 1941, son of Ernst and Lena (Schmidt) Baumann. On Sept. 11, 1976, he married Bernice Schmidt at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Arnold graduated from Wells High School in Chicago. He had been employed as a draftsman for numerous manufacturing companies. He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Rio and of Watertown Moose Lodge No. 830. Arnold enjoyed playing pool and cards and going fishing and camping.

Dr. Arnold O. Lehmann, 95, of Watertown, passed away on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Watertown Regional Medical Center.

Arnold was born on April 14, 1914, in Stanton, Neb., son of the Rev. Philipp L.H. and Elenore F.A. (Grosnick) Lehmann. On Oct. 3, 1941, he married the former Esther J. Burhop at Calvary Lutheran Church in Madison.
Arnold served in the U.S Army during World War II in the Signal Corps-Signal Intelligence as a cryptographer from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945.
Arnold received his bachelor of arts degree from the former Northwestern College in Watertown in 1936, a bachelor of music degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1938, a master of arts degree in music from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1940, and finally his Ph.D. in musicology from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1966.
Over the years Arnold held various music positions including assistant band director at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1937-1939; part-time music director, Fall River schools, from 1938-1940; music director, Colfax schools, from 1940-1942; chairman of the music department and music director at Concordia College in Fort Wayne, Ind., and lecturer in music at Indiana University-Fort Wayne Exten-sion both from January 1946 to June 1950; choral director at Cleveland Lutheran High School, Cleveland, Ohio, from 1950-1962 (while being a student at Western Reserve University at the same time.); he was then the head of the music department and music director at Northwestern College in Watertown from 1962-1979.
Arnold was the organist and choir director at Calvary Lutheran University Chapel in Madison from 1936-1940 and at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Lakewood, Ohio, from 1951 until 1959. He was the choir director and assistant organist at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake-wood, Ohio, from 1959 until 1962. Arnold was the assistant organist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Water-town as well as the choir director and organist at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Watertown from 1988 until 1997.
He was a member of the American Musicological Society for 60 years and the American Legion. Arnold was a former member of the College Band Directors Association and the Ameri-can Guild of Organists. He was on the founding board and on the board of the WELS Historical Institute and was the editor of the institute's Journal and Newsletter from 1990 until the present. He served on the WELS Hymnal Committee in connection with the preparation and publication of "Christian Worship," a Lutheran hymnal.
Survivors include his three sons, Rev. Philipp Lehmann of Zilwaukee, Mich., Rev. Richard (Debra) Lehmann of Janesville and Rev. Edwin (Elizabeth) Lehmann of Marshfield, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Bent-ley of Maine; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther on May 12, 2005; and sisters, Winfred Lehmann and Doris Urban.

IRON RIDGE - Gary E. Krebs of Iron Ridge, formerly of St. Lawrence, passed away unexpectedly from complications of a stroke on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee. He was 57 years old.
Gary was born June 27, 1952, in Hartford, son of Annette (Lofy) and Lloyd Krebs. He was united in marriage to Susan Ann Langenecker on Sept. 27, 1975, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Lawrence.
Gary loved music and playing his guitar. He owned and operated an auto body repair shop and enjoyed restoring cars and tractors. He was also a truck driver and truck mechanic. Gary built his own home and work shop. He was the present owner of the Lake Street Inn in Hustisford.
Gary dearly loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
Gary is survived by his wife of 33 years, Susan; three daughters, Nicole (Lance) Fassbender of Bur-nett, Jeanine (Chris) Hintz of Horicon and Valerie (Ben) Wagner of Iron Ridge; eight grandchildren, Kristian, Noelle, Jolene, Lilly, Landon, Darrin, Colin, and Madison; his mother, Annette Lofy of St. Lawrence; three brothers, John (Suzanne) Krebs, Richard (Beverly) Krebs and Randy (Peggy) Krebs, all of Hartford; three sisters, Cheryl Ann Krebs of Seattle, Wash., and Karen (Wayne) Wirkus and Linda (Terry) Breuer, both of Slinger; his mother-in-law, Iona Langenecker of Hustisford; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Chuck) Kaepernick and Alice Langenecker (special friend Dana Donegon), both of Hustisford; his brothers-in-law, Tom Langenecker of Hustisford, Richard (JoAnn) Langenecker of Slinger and Joe (Bonny Roeseler) Langenecker of Plymouth. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

JEFFERSON - Kenneth C. Pelzel, 64, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family and Father Tom Coyle.
Ken was born Feb. 5, 1945, in Redwood Falls, Minn., son of the late Alphonse and Susan (Gores) Pelzel. He married Karen Frericks of Wabasso, Minn., on May 29, 1963. He was employed by Kato Engineer-ing in Mankato, Minn., from 1963 until his retirement.
Ken was an avid fisherman, golfer at Meadow Springs, and sheepshead player.
Ken is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Sandy (Jim) Edward of Sherrard, Ill.; son, Jeff (Tricia) Pelzel of Pewaukee; four grandchildren, Christopher and Jessica Edward, Ross and Clare Pelzel; sisters, Lois Bushard of Hopkins, Minn., and Margaret Ann (Darrel) Baune of Wabasso; a brother, Gene (Shirley) Gores of Redwood Falls.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Susan and Alphonse, and brother-in-law, Don Bushard.

Alvin G. Luedtke
Alvin Gustof Luedtke of Thorton, Colo., went home to the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at the age of 99.
Alvin was born on May 19, 1910, in Watertown, son of Frank and Clara (Krueger) Luedtke. He was married to Mae Pagel in 1948. She preceded him in death in 1971. Alvin married Lily Mintzlaff in 1978.
Surviving is his wife; a stepson, Lee (Nancy) Mintzlaff; four stepgrandsons and one stepgranddaughter; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Elmer; sisters, Gertie West and Stella Bliese; a stepson, Roger Mintzlaff; a stepgrandson, Brett Was-lenko; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Pamala Mintz-laff, Keri Ann Mintzlaff and Jared Mintzlaff.
Alvin lived most of his life in the Watertown, Clyman and Beaver Dam area for 80 years. The past 20 years he lived in Seattle, Las Vegas and Denver areas.
He was employed for many years at Wilmer's Tavern in Watertown. During World War II, he served three years in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre, near Japan. After the war, Alvin owned and operated Mae and Alvin's Tavern in Clyman for about 30 years. Here he was very active with the Clyman baseball team in the Rock River League.
Alvin was truly a kind and loving person to all his family and friends for 99 years.
A memorial will be held in his honor with his wife, Lily, at a later date in Juneau.

FORT ATKINSON - David Phillip Wolff, 63, of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at his home.
David was born in Watertown on March 26, 1946, son of William Robert and Edythe (Loomer) Wolff. He attended Jefferson High School. On July 10, 1982, Dave married Sheryl Morgan in Lake Mills. Dave enjoyed being a dedicated over-the-road truck driver. He loved to work on his Chevelle, ride his Harley and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are his wife, Sheryl Wolff of Fort Atkinson; a daughter, Trinette Kelly of Lake Mills; a son, "Pojo" (Sue Frank) Wolff of Lake Wisconsin; a daughter, Tima Wolff of Jefferson; a sister, Andrea Geyer of Jefferson; a brother, Glenn Wolff of Lake Mills; his grandchildren, Clinton, Taylor and Jacob Kelly, Corey, Eric and Austin Wolff, Kristina Wolff and Justin Allen; and his loving pets, Perry, Neya, Ferguson and Utah.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents.

JEFFERSON - Helen Felton, 80, of Jefferson, died on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at Wellington Meadows in Fort Atkinson.
She was born on Dec. 8, 1928, in Burnett, daughter of Omer and Elsie (Haase) Wendt. She married Donald Felton on Jan. 8, 1949, in Jefferson. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1989.
She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1946. She worked as an operator for the telephone company in Jefferson. She was also the bookkeeper for Felton Electric Inc. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Jefferson and American Legion Auxiliary, and loved to read, knit, play cards and bingo, and taking casino trips.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert (Linda) Felton of Bolingbrook, Ill., and William (Polly) Felton of Rome; three grandchildren, Kurt and Brent Felton of Bolingbrook and Lindsey (Dylan) Schuyler of Jeffer-son; one sister, Kathryne (Don) Lenze of Stevens Point; one sister-in-law, Anne Felton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Nicholas Felton; one sister, Durcie Raleigh; one brother, James Wendt; and a brother-in-law, Maurice Felton.

LAKE MILLS - Bernice M. Weber, 93, of Lake Mills, died on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at Willowbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on May 21, 1916, in Juneau, daughter of the late Frank and Alma (Bingenheimer) Mueller.
Bernice was a graduate of Juneau High School, class of 1933.
She married Roland "Bud" R. Weber of Horicon on Nov. 23, 1938, in Juneau. He died on Feb. 4, 1964.
Bernice had moved to Lake Mills in 1938 when her parents had started the former Mueller Implement Company in Lake Mills. She had been employed by the former Lake Mills Shoe Factory, canning company and most recently at the former Birkholz Greenhouse in Lake Mills.
Bernice was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, its Catholic Christian Mother's, had been a religious education teacher and sang in the choir.
Survivors include her children, Donald Weber of Horicon, Bonnie Mosher of Lake Mills, Gail Dumpelmann of Marshall, Larry (Joan) Weber of Dublin, Ohio, and Gregory Weber, Robert (Jane) Weber, Anthony (Laurie) Weber and Mark (Beth) Weber, all of Lake Mills; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Mueller of Juneau; one sister, Dorothy Schultz of Sun Prairie; one nephew, Mike (Barb) Mueller of Shorewood Hills; other relatives and friends.
Bernice was also preceded in death by one great-granddaughter.

PITTSBURGH - Joyce Lorraine (Anderson) Goetsch of Pittsburgh much loved wife, sister, mother and grandmother, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009.
Born in Minneapolis, Minn., on March 19, 1924, Joyce was the daughter of John F. and Anna (Flagstad) Anderson. She was a 1946 graduate of the University of Minnesota. She taught junior high and high school home economics in Buffalo, Minn., Omaha, Neb., and Chats-worth, Calif., for over 26 years. Former students recall her patience, humor and practical good nature.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. Donald F. Goetsch of Pittsburgh; her brothers, the Rev. John F. (Dee) Anderson of New London, Minn., and Albert C. (Bev) Anderson of Eagan, Minn.; children and grandchildren.
Married for 60 wonderful years, she loved and enjoyed her widely scattered family, daughter, Sherree Ann (Jim) Goetsch Funk of Sewickley and twin sons, Scott Douglas (Leslie) Goetsch of Balti-more, Md., and Stephen Doyle (Haruka) Goetsch of Katy, Texas. She was proud of all her eight grandchildren, Emily Baldwin Goetsch, Ben-jamin Donald Goetsch, Allyson Lorraine Funk, Anderson James William Funk, Anne Jacqueline Funk, Samuel Shuki Goetsch, Miki Kathleen Goetsch and Calvin Maiki Goetsch.
She moved to Treesdale with her husband in 2002 after living 46 years in Cali-fornia, 32 in Chatsworth and 14 in Paso Robles. Always active in church, she was a member of the Ingomar United Methodist Church. She traveled extensively with her husband and enjoyed scrapbooking, square dancing, water aerobics, cross-stitch and Christmas cookie baking. She was a member of the Treesdale Red Hat Club and the Mount Nebo Grange.
We miss her, but we rejoice that she is enjoying the hospitality in heaven, after a long life, well-lived.
A memorial service will be held at Ingomar United Methodist Church on Saturday, Sept. 19, at a time to be determined. Her ashes will be buried in Ixonia, Wis.

Francine Kasmar, 63, of Watertown, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, Aug. 20, 2009 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.

The former Francine Olivia Case was born on Nov. 9, 1945, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Lawrence and Frances (Van Buskirk) Case Sr.
Francine married Cornelius Deasy on Aug. 21, 1967, and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2000. She married Edward J. Kasmar on Nov. 11, 2005, and he preceded her in death on March 16, 2006.
Francine graduated from Austin High School in Chicago, Ill. She had been employed as a unit secretary at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill. She was the recipient of the Arkansas Hospice Heart Award that was given by Hospice of the Ozarks in 2000.
Francine is survived by a son, Patrick (Ann) Deasy of Lake Geneva; a brother, Lawrence F. (Judy) Case Jr. of Naperville, Ill.; and other relatives and friends. She was further preceded in death by her parents.

Alberta was a teacher/professor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for 17 years and retired in 1976.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling.

Gilbert J. Gondek Sr., 84, of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday morning, Aug. 20, 2009, at Watertown Regional Medical Center.
Gilbert was born on Sept. 26, 1924, in Milwaukee, the son of John and Helena Gondek. He was a graduate of Pulaski High School in Milwaukee. Gilbert served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 until 1945. He was employed at Pelton Steel in Milwaukee for many years.
Gilbert enjoyed bowling, pool and golf. He was a member of the Watertown Elks Lodge and loved spending time with family and friends.
Gilbert is survived by his loving companion, Jane Kuhn of Watertown; a son, Phillip (Janet) Gondek of Kenosha; a stepdaughter, Jaci Kuhn of Eagle; three grandchildren, Joe Gondek, Jennifer Hibberd and Clifford Gondek; five great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Gerri Gondek of Milwaukee; other relatives and friends.

Irene Laura Schoenike was born in the town of Lebanon on Oct. 8, 1918, daughter of Emil and Anna (Krueger) Schoenike. She married Fred Lueck at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lebanon on May 20, 1951. He preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1991.
Irene and Fred farmed on the family farm in the town of Lebanon. She was a very devoted member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sugar Island and was a member of the Watertown Senior Center. Irene loved spending time with her family and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, latch hook and puzzles.
She is survived by her four children, Leah (Bruce) Dieball of Lebanon, Joann Lueck of Janesville, David Lueck of Watertown and Bob (Kathy) Lueck of Watertown; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Troy) Clauer, Katie (Shad) Ladell, Kevin (Sarah) Haas, Laura (Will) Jacobson and Monica Lueck; three great-grandchildren, Jonothan Clauer, Hunter Jacobson and Logan Ladell; a sister, Irma Schoenike of Watertown; two brothers, Hilbert Schoenike of Lebanon and Erwin (Gertrude) Schoenike of Hustisford; a brother-in-law, Edgar (Adeline) Werth of Waterloo; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mildred R. Drost, 96, of Watertown, was called to her heavenly home to be with her Lord on Monday, Aug. 17, 2009.

Mildred was born on May 30, 1913, daughter of Max and Ida (Boettcher) Hager. On July 3, 1933, she married Joseph Drost at St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo.
Mildred and her husband owned and operated Drost Taxi Services and Drost Smoke Shop, both in Watertown, for many years. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, served on various committees and enjoyed visiting fellow parishioners. She was a member of the Watertown Senior Center and its kitchen band, and the Funsters Club.
She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed gardening and visiting with friends. Mildred was the "grandma" to the neighborhood children.
Mildred is survived by two children, Donald (Yvonne) Drost of Watertown and Evelyn (Armin) Genz of Watertown. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Valerie (Mark) Uttech, Deanna Drost, Darren (Cindy) Genz, Heidi (Kendall) Drost-Matthews and Kim Genz; four great-grandchildren, Kendell Uttech, Jessica Franklin, Laura McNeal and Emilee Gauntt; and one great-great-grandchild, Troy Gauntt.

Robert J. Schilling
IXONIA - Robert "Bobby" J. Schilling, 29, of Ixonia, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at Watertown Regional Medical Center.
Bobby was born on Nov. 24, 1979, in Waukesha, the son of Robert R. and Lori (Blasius) Schilling. He was a 2001 graduate of Watertown High School. Bobby worked on the family farm, Glacier Rock Farm in Ixonia, where he especially enjoyed taking care of the ponies and horses and helping his Dad. He was a member of Watertown Special Olympics where he competed all year long in all the sports and competitions.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Virginia Blasius.

MENOMONEE FALLS - Christina Noel Irving of Menomonee Falls, formerly of Oconomowoc, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at 35 years of age.
She was the loving daughter of Matthew (Eileen) Irving and the dear sister of Peter M. Irving and Pamela E. Irving. She is survived by her aunts, Caroline Werner, Violet McMahon and Rose (Will) Syring.
Christina was a home health aid for Caring Angels. She had also been previously employed at Sentry Foods in Oconomowoc.
Friends visited with the family at the Schmidt & Bartelt Notbohm Kreutzmann Funeral Home in Oconomowoc on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. Final rest was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Watertown.

Eugene R. Kraus
WAUKESHA - Eugene "Gene" R. Kraus of Wau-kesha, surrounded by his family, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at the age of 87 years.
Gene was born on March 17, 1922, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Kraus. He was a longtime member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served as a Sunday school superintendent. Gene was employed by International Harvester for over 40 years and active in the United Steel Workers of America Local 3740 union. He was known for his involvement in the community as he served on the Waukesha County Board for 20 years. He was also an appointed Waukesha alderman. Gene actively worked on the city panels on the appeal board, was appointed to the common council and to the sign review boards. In 2005 Gene was presented a key to the city for diligently serving on city boards and commissions for 46 years.
Gene enjoyed woodworking, photography, and his five beautiful daughters. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gene will be dearly missed by the love of his life, his wife of 64 years, Marian; daughters, Kathryn (David) Halterman, Karen (Joseph) Kokan, Karla (Robert) Han-son, Kay (Marc) Bourgeois and Kamille (Albert) Wilkin-son; grandchildren, Beth, Jami, Sarah, Marc Jr. (Kristin), Anastasia (Gabe), Nate, Joshua, Benjamin, Jeremiah, Emma, Domi-nique, Jacob, Philippe and Gabriel; great-grandchildren, Isabella, Hunter, Hailey, Lilianna, Ari and Madeline; sisters-in-law, Ruth Flath, Ruby Kraus and Yvonne Flath. Eugene is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elvira Streich; parents; brothers, Wallace and Harold; and sisters, Leona and Isabel.
A funeral service for Gene will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188. The Rev. Jim Holmberg will be officiating.
Visitation will be on Thursday from noon until the time of the 2 p.m. funeral service at the church.

Alfred Schuenemann
Alfred Edward Schuenemann, 88, of Virginia, Minn., died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, in the Virginia Convalescent Center. He was born March 2, 1921, in Marinette, the son of George W. and Emily Schuenemann.
Alfred married Helen McCormick on Sept. 20, 1943, in Milwaukee, and served in mechanized cavalry and heavy artillery units of the U.S. Army during World War II. He lived in Eau Claire, Wascott and Superior prior to moving to Virginia in 2002. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the city of Eau Claire and then moved to Wascott where he owned and operated a resort for many years. Alfred was a member of the Lockman-Jensen American Legion Post 499 of Gordon. He loved gardening, wine-making and canning.
Alfred is survived by children Bonnie Jean Schuene-mann of Virginia, Linda Schuenemann of Caldwell, Idaho, Joyce Stavos of Virginia and Rick (Robin) Schuenemann of Robbins-dale, Minn.; grandchildren Thomas Lohse, Fredrick Lohse, Althea McCormick, Brett Schuenemann and Kyle Schuenemann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Helen in 1999.
Graveside services will be held in the Wascott Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Military honors will be accorded by the Lockman-Jensen American Legion Post 499.

Thomasina "Ena" Berg, 82, of Watertown, passed away Friday afternoon, Aug. 14, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
A Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at noon at First Baptist Church in Watertown with the Rev. Allan Kranz officiating. Burial will be in St. Henry Catholic Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church or the Alz-heimer's Society.
On June 16, 1927, Thomasina Watson was born to the parents of William and Edith Watson in the city of Belfast, Northern Ireland. She grew up in this small country surrounded by a vast ocean, as one of five children. She worked at a popular dairy bar during the war, where she met Raymond Berg of Watertown, who was stationed in the U.S. Navy near the Belfast shipyards. They were married on June 17, 1944. As a young war bride, Ena took to heart the advice of her loving father, who told her to keep her nationality and religion, should she leave Ireland for the United States to begin a new life in America. Ena stayed true to her father's wishes by retaining her Irish citizenship for the 65 years she lived in Watertown, while remaining a faithful Baptist her entire life.
Ena was employed at the former Northwestern College in the cafeteria for seven years and at the former Welcome Inn in housekeeping for 14 years. She also took pleasure in being a member of the King's Daughters within her church. In addition, Ena enjoyed her many trips back to Ireland over the years to visit with family and friends.
As children to this incredible mother, we saw each day a genuine example of how to live a Christian life. This was a woman who selflessly gave her entire adult life to being the best mother and wife a family and husband could ask for. Ena lived a life that would be difficult to match in terms of one's commitment to God and family. All who knew her will attest to the extraordinary way she faced the challenges of everyday life. Ena's unwavering faith in God and devotion to her family in Ireland and America are the real legacy of this remarkable woman.
As part of her values taught early on, Ena chose not to drink alcohol (other than a glass of wine on special occasions) or use profanity to express her feelings, yet taught by example instead of ridicule how to live without these habits. All who knew Ena were impacted by her presence in a positive way.
The last few years of her life, Ena was afflicted with Alzheimer's yet she dealt with this terrible disease with a dignity, grace and humility one could only hope to attain themselves. As a family we were fortunate to have incredibly caring staff that took care of our mother in her home with a love, respect and admiration that made us extremely appreciative and thankful. Joi Stevens, Sheri Burns, Joyce Stolarczyk, along with granddaughters, Heather (Berg) Battist, Stacey Berg, Erica Schweit-zer, Chelsey Berg and Jenny Berg, gave the highest degree of personal care you could ask for, which was obvious to all who observed them in the course of their duties. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for the quality of care our mother received each and every day.
It should be said that Ena had a strong affection and concern for children especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took pride in knowing there was a little bit of her in the many relation she helped bring into this world.
Survivors include her children, Raymond (Darlene) Berg of East Troy, Kathleen (Gary) Schweitzer, Dennis (Cheryl) Berg, Kenneth (Sheri) Berg and Thomas (Lisa) Berg, all of Watertown; 15 grandchildren, Bryan (Lori) Berg, Tammy (Duane) Cherek, Terry Berg, Colleen (Rodrigo) de Mendoza, Shannon (Lisa) Schweitzer, Erica Schweitzer, Michael Schweitzer, Hannah and Molly Berg, Chelsey and Jenny Berg, Heather (Dan) Battist, Aleasha (Ken) Bozych, Tom (Melissa) Berg and Stacy Berg; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers Harry (Lilly) Watson, George (Geor-gette) Watson and sister Margaret (Charles) Irwin, all of Northern Ireland; a brother-in-law, Roman Berg of Johnson Creek; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray (2008); brothers James and William Watson.

MADISON - Maureen A. Miller, 60, of Madison, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at UW-Hospital in Madison.
Maureen was born May 9, 1949, in Watertown, daughter of Floyd H. and Gloria J. (Biefeld) Miller.
Her father preceded her in death.
She is survived by her mother, Gloria of Lake Mills; two sisters, Mary Miller of North Carolina and Mona (Joe) Hanlin of Marshfield; three brothers, Mike (Michelle) Miller of Jefferson, Mark (Corrine) Miller of Watertown and Matthew (Karen) Miller of Lake Mills; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is further survived by the very special "family" of caregivers who took the most absolute, beautiful care of her for the last 40 years at Central Wisconsin Center in Madison.

I will sit long hours with my grandparents and listen to stories they have to tell of how they met, what they love most about each other and most importantly, naughty things my parents did when they were kids.
I have waited patiently to do all these things and more. Now, I am free. I have a lifetime in heaven to do everything I could not do here on earth.

Elsie A. Potts, 89, of Watertown, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at AngelsGrace Hospice.
Elsie was born on July 5, 1920, in Barron, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Minichsoffer) Hain. On Sept. 14, 1940, she married Mark B. Potts in Cornell, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 2004.
Elsie was the loving mother of Mark (Mary) Potts, her dear friend and caregiver Marie, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was further preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Arthur, Roy and Louie Hain.
Family funeral services will be on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church with Father Brian Wilk officiating. Burial will be the parish cemetery.

Donovan Lee Richards, 79, of Watertown, passed away Friday afternoon, Aug. 14, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown with the Rev. Lee Meissner officiating. Family burial of the cremains will occur at a later date in Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia.
Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the church.

Donovan was born on Oct. 23, 1929, in LaValle, son of Arvine and Fern (Doering) Richards. He attended grade school in LaValle and was a 1947 graduate of Reedsburg High School in Reedsburg. Don attended four years of college at Whitewater and received his bachelor's degree in education. On June 16, 1951, he married the former Mary Randall at the Methodist Church in Reedsburg.
Don served in the U.S. Army for four years, during the Korean War. He then taught math and coached baseball in Two Rivers. Don then became assistant principal for three years at Beaver Dam High School in Beaver Dam and was later employed for three years as assistant principal at Hartland High School in Hartland. He received a master's degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and in 1963 moved to Watertown and was principal of Watertown Senior High School. In 1971 Don became assistant superintendent of the Watertown Unified School District until his retirement in 1986. Following his retirement, Don remained interested and supportive of educational programs, often working as a consultant. He was an avid sports fan involved with local athletic programs. He enjoyed area baseball, fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his family, especially traveling and Badger hockey games with his wife.
Don was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown, serving on various boards and committees including being a former lay leader and chairman of staff-parish relations. He was a volunteer driver for FISH and Meals on Wheels.
Don was a member of the Watertown Library Board, Watertown American Legion Post No. 189 and a former member of the Watertown Elks Lodge.
Don is survived by his wife, Mary of Watertown; a daughter, Janis (Robert) Mattson of Mindoro; a son, Allen of Watertown; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Mattson, Jon Mattson, Sarah Richards and Ben Richards; one great-granddaughter, Allayah Schlender; and other relatives and friends.
Don was the last member of his immediate family, being preceded in death by his parents.

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Myrtle L. Hartwig, 88, of Cape Coral, Fla., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at the Health Park Care Center in Fort Myers, Fla.
The former Myrtle Winkelman was born on April 26, 1921, in Johnson Creek, Wis., daughter of Carl and Louise (Weber) Winkelman. On Nov. 5, 1938, she married Clarence Hartwig at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farmington, Wis. He preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 1979.
She is survived by seven children, Clarence (Joan) Hartwig of Johnson Creek, Judy (Roland) Wishowski of Johnson Creek, Faye Storniolo of Sarasota, Fla., William Hartwig of Johnson Creek, Clyde (Rachel) Hartwig of Cape Coral, Kurt Hartwig of Cape Coral and Jeffrey (Marina) Hartwig of Shirley, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren survive, as well as her twin brothers, Louis (Loretta) Winkelman of Johnson Creek and Carl Winkelman of Watertown, Wis.
Myrtle was further preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Harold, Fred and Roy Winkelman; and a sister, Katheryn Hudson.
A private family service will be held with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Johnson Creek.

Dorothy Wagoner
WILD ROSE - Dorothy R. Wagoner, age 90, of Wild Rose, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Wild Rose Manor.
She was born in Lake Mills on Jan. 12, 1919, daughter of the late John and Iva (Hopper) Wilson.
Dorothy married Lambert Wagoner on Nov. 11, 1936, in Lake Mills. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2004. Dorothy was a member of the Wild Rose United Methodist Church.
Dorothy and Lambert moved from Watertown to Saxeville in 1964 and then to Wild Rose in 1974. Dorothy moved to Wild Rose Manor on Aug. 5, 2008. She had worked at various department stores, including Sears, Montgomery Ward, Kline's, Coast to Coast and Ace Hardware, all in Watertown. She enjoyed traveling and had taken her first airplane and boat ride at the age of 85. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and crocheting.
She is survived by a brother, John (Dolores) Wilson of Janesville, and a sister, Anna Anderson of Pardeeville. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Ephriam Wilson, and four sisters, Clara Blaschka, Frances Reszynski, Lydia DeGrebe and Aletha June Wilson.
A memorial service will be held at Wild Rose United Methodist Church at noon on Friday with the Rev. Yul Kwon officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the service.
Burial of cremains will be in the Aztalan Cemetery, Jefferson County, at a later date. Memorials can be made to the Wild Rose United Methodist Church.

LAKE MILLS - Sandra A. Uttech, 62, of Lake Mills, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at Willowbrook Nursing Home in Lake Mills.
Sandra was born March 16, 1947, in Watertown, daughter of Clarence and Anna (Martin) Koshelnick. She was a 1965 graduate of Watertown High School. Sandra worked as a CNA at Marquardt Memorial Manor for a number of years. She was a member of the Stone Bank Bible Chapel.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, one aunt, one cousin, other relatives and her church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Kenneth.

Viola Sheppard
FOND DU LAC - Viola "Ole" M. Sheppard, of 995 Birch Tree Lane, Fond du Lac, died at her home on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009.
She was born on March 31, 1924, daughter of Robert and Margaret Boeder. In 1945, she was legally adopted by Mrs. Lena Krueger of Watertown, in whose home she had been raised since 1933. Her sisters by this adoption were the late Misses Alice and Anita Krueger.
On June 25, 1949, she married H. Mark Sheppard, who preceded her in death on July 10, 1974.
Mrs. Sheppard graduated from Watertown High School in 1942 and from the Univer-sity of Wisconsin-Madison in 1946, with a bachelor of science degree in education. She taught Latin and Spanish at Oshkosh High School from 1946 to 1950, one year at Rosendale High School from 1961 to 1962, and was a foreign language and English teacher in the Fond du Lac School District from 1962 until her retirement in 1985.
She was a lifetime member of NEA and WEAC, a member of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, the Wisconsin Association of Foreign Language Teachers, Fond du Lac Area Retired Educators' Association, and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, in which she served as state president from 1992 to 1995 and as local chapter president for three terms. She was a member of the Fond du Lac County Republican Party and Fond du Lac County Federation of Republican Women, in which she served as treasurer for several years. She was a former member of the Fond du Lac Literacy Council and secretary of the Fond du Lac County Adult Literacy Program. She was also a former member of the Sunset Stitchers Quilt Guild.
Mrs. Sheppard was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac.
She is survived by her children, daughters, Mary (Al) Dullinger and Deborah (Jim) Kiser and their children, Holly and Ivy, to whom she was especially close and with whom she made her home since 1985, and sons, Leath (Maureen) and Tim (Beth); 15 grandchildren, Erica, Garritt, Micah, Karen, Al, Mark, Jodi, Angela, Tom, Teri, Jeremy, Holly, Ivy, Eric and Lauren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are one brother-in-law, Howard Abbe of Dundee, Ore.; two sisters-in-law, Edith Stepanski (Jack) of Oshkosh and Kathleen Boeder of Seguin, Texas; nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were her brother, Donald Boeder (2008) of Seguin and her sister, Roberta Abbe (2007) of Dun-dee.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 606 Forest Ave., Fond du Lac, at 5:30 p.m. on Friday with Pastor Fred Toppe officiating. The family will receive visitors on Friday at the church from 3:30 p.m. until the time of service.

HANCOCK - Robert "Bob" G. Stuedli, 75, of Hancock, formerly of Janes-ville, died on Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at his home in Hancock.
Bob was born in Lafayette County, son of Jacob and Lillian (Gerber) Stuedli on Sept. 21, 1933. He spent 23 years with his life partner, Mary Ann Downing, prior to her death in 2004.
Bob started working for GM in Janesville in 1958 on the assembly line and worked there for over 33 years, retiring in 1991. After his retirement he moved to Hancock. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Local 95 UAW Workers, a 50-year member of American Legion Post No. 164, a 50-year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Bob loved playing cards, bingo and hanging out with friends and family.
He is survived by his two sisters, Rose (Merlin) Pfeifer of Lake Mills and Carol (Jerome) Heidemann of Waunakee, many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Barbara Hummel; and his brother-in-law, Franklin Borth.

Estella Ganser
JEFFERSON - Estella R. Ganser, 96, of Jefferson, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at Fort Memorial Hospital.
Estella was born on May 4, 1913, daughter of the late Edward H. and Kathryn (Seitz) Fischer, on their family farm in Johnson Creek. She graduated from eighth grade at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School and from Johnson Creek High School in June 1931. She attended one year of teacher's training at Jefferson High School and also attended Whitewater State Teachers College. Estella taught school at the Enterprise Rural School in Jefferson County for six years.
On June 25, 1938, she married Benno Ganser at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Johnson Creek. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1968.
Estella was employed at Alverno for 18 years, retiring April 1, 1992. She belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson and the St. Ann's Society.
She was active in her children's and grandchildren's activities and was proud when their plans included her.
She is survived by five children, Kenneth (Rita) Ganser of Jackson, Elaine (Jerry) Lenz of Wilmette, Ill., James (Mary) Ganser of Jefferson, Christine (Harlan) Long of Milwaukee and Susan (Wil) Weisensel of Jefferson; 15 grandchildren, Michael (fiancee Kelly) Ganser, Matthew (Sarah) Ganser, Connie Ganser, Mark (Julia) Ganser, Steven (Kim) Ganser, Jim (Beckie) Ganser, Nick Ganser, Anmarie (fiance Curt) Lenz, Collin (Stepha-nie) Donohue, Yvonne Donohue, Steven Ebel, Seth (Debbie) Ebel, Sara (fiance Nick) Ebel, Shane (friend Rose) Ebel, Toby Weisensel; 12 great-grandchildren, Maddie, Abby Ganser, Marissa, Adam Ganser, Michaela Ganser, Alexandra, Olivia Ganser, Lauryn, Vanessa Ganser, Joslyn Donahue, Ellie, Joseph Ebel.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle and the Rev. Cyril Weisensel officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Eugene M. Sandri Jr., 68, of Watertown, fought a courageous battle for 2 1/2 years and passed away on Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at Aurora VNA Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with Father Brian Wilk of St. Henry Catholic Church officiating.

Eugene was born on Sept. 24, 1940, in Milwaukee, son of Eugene Sr. and Louise (Korosetz) Sandri. He graduated from West Division High School in Milwaukee in 1959. On May 29, 1965, he married the former Diane Fisher in Milwaukee.
Eugene was plant manager for Wacker Corp., retiring in 2000. He and his wife resided in Hartland for 25 years and retired to Watertown, also in 2000. He then worked part-time as a dispatcher for the Watertown Transit Co.
Eugene was a handyman and was very generous in lending a hand to family and friends.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchild.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Diane Sandri of Watertown; his children, Suzette Sandri of Watertown, Joseph (Renee) Sandri of Pewaukee and Jason (Julie) Sandri of Gilbert, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Jessica, Nathan, Pey-ton, Riley and Dylan Sandri and Amanda (Taylor) Heinzel; his great-granddaughter, Addison Heinzel; two sisters, Carol (Mike) Muth of North Destrehan, La., and Evelyn (Jim) Kujawa of Clarkston, Mich.; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Edward King Jr.
Edward John King Jr., 85, of Watertown, was called to the Lord on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 9, 2009, at home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Watertown Moravian Church with the Rev. Barbara Berg officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Water-town Moravian Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3709.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Watertown Moravian Church or to Marquardt Hospice.
Edward was born June 2, 1924, in Watertown. He was the son of Edward John and Adeline (Klinger) King. Ed attended grade school in Watertown and was a 1942 graduate of Watertown High School. On Oct. 18, 1947, he married Marion Kropp at Watertown Moravian Church. He was a member of Watertown Moravian Church and was very involved with the church as a driver, delivering meals on wheels and helping in the office.
Ed lived a very full life. As a young man he helped his father by working at King Auto Sales which was later King & Hintz auto sales in Watertown. He served three years in the United States Navy as a radio man. Ed drove truck for 37 years at Motor Transport Co. in Watertown and he drove for 4-Way trucking. Following his retirement as a truck driver he was employed part-time for 10 years at Badger Car Wash. He was an alderman for the city of Watertown and served three terms. Ed was a member and vice president of the Teamsters for 40 years.
Ed loved spending time with his entire family, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loving wife, Marion. He collected coins, enjoyed watching football games and always made sure he had his "lucky" numbers picked for the lottery. Ed and Marion did a lot of traveling and got to see a good part of the states.
He is survived by six children, Linda (Lee Breckheimer) Clement of Kiel, Edward (Ellen) King III of Stevens Point, Diane (Bob) Schmidt of Watertown, Timothy (Deb Zoellick) King of Watertown, Susan (Steve) Strohbusch of Watertown and Daniel (Laurie) King of Watertown; grandchildren, Tom Clement, Ginny (Jim) Bocek, Edward (Tracy) King IV, Alice (Kyle) Koback, Kristie (Chris) Coughlin, David (Megan) Schmidt, John (Chelsey Berg) King, Trina (Chris) Schwandt, Rebecca (Korey Johnson) Barnes, Kyle (Sarah Shock) Strohbusch, Kale Strohbusch and Kory Strohbusch; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Danielle Bocek, Caitlin King, Hunter Koback, Alex, Peyton and Joey Coughlin, McKenna, Madelynn, Alana and Abigail Schmidt, Ella Johnson, Brett Strohbusch, Alexia, Logan and Gavin Schwandt. Ed is further survived by two brothers, Don (Cathy) King and Tom (Kathy) King, both of Watertown, and two sisters, Jeanie (Don) Pierce of Edgewater and Lois Ayres of Olympia, Wash.; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael King; a brother, Jim King; and two sisters, Carol Schmidt and Gaye King.
He will be missed very much by his whole family and his dog, Lady. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and will always be remembered for his funny jokes. Ed smiled right down to the end and died a happy man.

David W. Rohloff, 63, of Watertown, died on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at the VA Hospital in Madison.

David was born in Watertown on June 29, 1946, the son of William and Lucille (Nienow) Rohloff. He served in the United States Navy and worked as a carpenter all of his working life.
David was an avid NASCAR fan.

Bill was formally a lifelong resident of Watertown for over 53 years. He was born in the town of Emmet on March 3, 1933, son of Edwin and Winifred (Kuenzi) Boeder. Bill attended St. Mark's and Immanuel Lutheran grade schools and graduated from Watertown High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Germany during the Korean War, and was a member of the Pitterle-Beaudoin American Legion Post No. 189.
In 1957, he married Janet Borazo at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown. They were married for 52 years.
Bill worked for AT&T as an electronics installer, retiring in 1987 after 30 years of service. After retiring in 1987 he and his wife, Janet, moved to Lac du Flambeau, enjoying 22 years of northern Wisconsin life including fishing, hunting, and fixing anything in need of repair, especially cars. He and his wife enjoyed winters in Florida in their RV along with his sister, Lois, and her husband, Wil. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his beloved dog, Mo.
Survivors include his wife, Janet (Borazo) Boeder of Lac du Flambeau; three sons, Steven (Nancy) Boeder of McFarland, Jeffrey (Lori) Boeder of Milwaukee and Gregory Boeder of Westby; one daughter, Anne Boeder of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren, Molly, Ryan Alecia, Cameron and Joshua; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois (Wil) Streblow of Watertown.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Boeder and Winifred (Kuenzi) Boeder Zastrow, and a son, Thomas Boeder.

LAKE MILLS - Michael A. Ader Jr., 18, of Lake Mills, died on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, in the town of Milford following an automobile accident.
He was born on Oct. 27, 1990, in Las Vegas, Nev., son of the late Michael A. Ader Sr. and Judy Lynn Gerstner.
Michael had been a resident of Lake Mills for the past 11 years and was a graduate of Lake Mills High School, class of 2009. He was planning on attending the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the fall.
While in high school he was active in basketball and track for four years and a member of the traveling basketball team. He had served as secretary of the student council and was a member of the art club.
Michael had a special interest in art and had won many special awards. He also enjoyed music, especially the Beatles and John Lennon.
He was a certified scuba diver, enjoyed long boarding and animals.
Survivors include his mother, Judy Gerstner of Lake Mills; a sister, Tara Ader of Lake Mills; maternal grandmother, Gloria Gerstner of Lake Mills; a special big brother, Jim Markgraf of Lake Mills; an uncle, Gary Gerstner of Menomonee Falls; two aunts, Susan Gerstner of Lake Mills and Linda (Mike) Rewey of Verona; other relatives and friends.
Also preceding in death was his paternal grandfather, Marvin Gerstner.

REESEVILLE - Lorraine H. Neis, 82, formerly of Reeseville, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

The former Lorraine Helen Raabe was born on Jan. 28, 1927, in Horicon, daughter of the late Herman and Alma (Klebs) Raabe. On June 15, 1946, she was united in marriage with Raymond Neis at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Reeseville. They farmed together in the Reeseville area for many years and they also owned and operated the grocery store in Reeseville for several years. After they retired, Lorraine and Raymond moved to Hazelhurst. Raymond preceded Lorraine in death on Dec. 28, 1999.
Survivors include her son, Richard (LuAnn) Neis of Burnett; two grandchildren, Kurt (Deana) Neis of Horicon and Tonya (Jeff) Feucht of Horicon; four great-grandchildren, Abby and Ryan Neis and Jared and Darren Feucht; her sister, Jeane (Leonard) Umland of Beaver Dam; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.

Norman Behling
HARTFORD - Norman H. Behling of Hartford/Slinger passed away on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at his home. He was 76 years old.
Norman was born July 26, 1933, in the town of Rubicon to William and Emma (Edna) Behling. He married Jose-phine "Josie" Cartus on Nov. 24, 1960, at Holy Angels Church in West Bend.
Norman was a wonderful grandfather, father and husband. He grew up working on farms and later drove produce trucks. He was a volunteer fireman for Hartford in the early 1970s. He worked at Midas International Stamping, where he was a spot welder for 25 plus years until he retired. He was an avid sports fan. He loved rooting for those Cubbies, and watching auto racing, and the Packers. He was a collector of M&M's memorabilia and trains.
He is survived by his children, Connie (Scott) Metz of Hartford, Robin (Kenneth) Yurske of Hartford and Joseph Behling of Hartford; one precious grandchild, Victoria Metz; his brother, Roy (Ruth) Behling of Iron Ridge; his sister, Jean (Wayne) Koester of Hustisford; his sisters-in-law, Edna Behling of Newark, Ohio, Marie Behling of Slinger, Shirley Behling of Sheboygan Falls and Katherine (Ronald) Schlefke of Nekoosa; and his brother-in-law, David Sauer of Campbellsport. The former Joan Marguerite Haines was born on April 14, 1926, in Mount Sterling, the daughter of Charles E. and Margurite (Paulson) Haines. On April 12, 1944, she married Paul W. Rice at the Boscobel Methodist Church in Boscobel. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1999. She and her husband had farmed in the town of Emmet. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women. Joan enjoyed quilting and gardening. She was a collector of bears, eggs and angels.

Grace T. Roethle, 87, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at her home.
Grace was born on Oct. 28, 1921, in Jefferson, daughter of Joseph and Blanche (Bilsted) Schroedl. On Jan. 15, 1951, she married John Roethle. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. She had been employed at Herro's Tot And Teen for 20 years.
Grace loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards with her card clubs, cooking and baking everyone's favorite dishes.
Survivors include her husband John; their children, Sandra (Tom) Werner of Watertown, Fred (Jean) Roethle of Watertown, Patricia (Gary) McFatridge of Bishop, Texas, and Joseph (Linda) Roethle of Green Bay; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother and a sister, Betty (Carl) Wedl of Jefferson and Eu-gene Schroedl of Cazenovia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gertrude S. Trodahl, 94, of 1020 Hill St., Watertown, died on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at Marquardt Memorial Manor following a brief illness.

The former Gertrude Schwalbe was born Dec. 4, 1914, in Bethel, Alaska, daughter of Frederic and Anna (Buxbaum) Schwalbe. She married the Rev. Harry Trodahl July 7, 1938, in Bethel.
Gertrude was a graduate of Salem College in Winston-Salem, N.C. She was a missionary in Alaska from 1936 to 1955 and 1968 to 1972. She and her husband served a number of Moravian churches. She was a member of Watertown Moravian Church and had also served on the Marquardt Memorial Manor Board of Directors.
Surviving are two daughters, Jean (Robert) Roberts of Lewiston, Idaho and Lyn (Richard) Chynoweth of Ridgefield, Conn.; a son, Joe (Maggie) Trodahl of Welling-ton, New Zealand; two grandchildren, Martha (Kiron) Parbhu and Halvar Trodahl; two great-grandchildren, Nyah and Shivani; a sister, Katherine Leinbach of Winston-Salem; a number of nieces and nephews, stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

HUSTISFORD - John R. Eggleston, 37, of Hustisford, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.
John was born on May 10, 1972, in Milwaukee, son of Michael Eggleston and Ruth (Miller) Reiff.
John loved fishing, golfing, and especially loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered for his willingness to help his family and friends.
John had a Commercial Drivers License and drove truck. He loved driving. Due to his nature of helping others, John received the Citizens Award from Milwau-kee County

BEAVER DAM - Jennie I. Neumann, 77, of Beaver Dam, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at her home in Beaver Dam after a lengthy battle with kidney cancer.
Visitation for Jennie will be at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will be at Trinity United Methodist Church in Beaver Dam on Friday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Eileen Kuehnl will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton, Dodge County.
The former Jennie Irene Roberts was born on Aug. 28, 1931, on the family farm in Fond du Lac County, daughter of the late William and Lillie (Smith) Roberts. She graduated from Rosendale High School in 1949 and from Whitewater State College in 1953, where she was a member of the Delta Sigma Epsilon Sorority. On Oct. 23, 1954, she was united in marriage with Kenneth L. Neu-mann at Rosendale Method-ist Church.
Jennie taught at Dodge-land High School and other area schools for over 50 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Beaver Dam where she was active in the Mary Circle and other church organizations. Jennie served on the Dodge County Library Board and on the Beaver Dam area FEMA Board.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and she enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and several other countries, as well. Jennie also enjoyed gardening, crafts and sewing.
Survivors include her husband, Ken Neumann of Beaver Dam; five children, Debra (Richard) Worden of Beaver Dam, Dean Neumann of Beaver Dam, Denise (David) Breunig of Madison, Diane (Jim Pelkey) Neumann of Madison and Doug (Joanne) Neumann of Water-town; nine grandchildren, Bradley (Jill), Craig, and Andrea Worden, Dane and Deeter Neumann, Jason and Lindsay Breunig, and Nathan and Connor Neumann; a great-granddaughter, Alathia Worden; two sisters and a brother, Margaret Meier of Fond du Lac, Doris (Robert) Klapperich of Wisconsin Rapids and David (Arlene) Roberts of Markesan; a sister-in-law, Burnett Roberts of Rosendale; a brother-in-law, Leslie (June) Hageman of Ripon; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.

JOHNSON CREEK - Dorothy E. Schier, 88, of Johnson Creek, died on Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at Kathy Hospice in West Bend.
Born on Jan. 19, 1921, in Milwaukee to Charles and Emma (Young) Miller, she married Melvin Schier on Aug. 23, 1941, in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1990.
She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Johnson Creek.
She is survived by three daughters, Darlene (Dennis) Carlson of Sharon, N.D., Kristine (Herb) Zabel of Hartford and Carol (Steve) Bakken of Lake Mills; three sons, Ronald (Kathy) Schier of Rubicon, Mike (Cindy) Schier of Hartford and Dale (Linda) Schier of Jefferson; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Martin Miller of St. Francis; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Earl Miller and Tommy Miller; and another brother and sister who were twins who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Johnson Creek at 11 a.m. on Saturday, with the Rev. Robert Hughes officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery, Johnson Creek.

RICHWOOD - Leland C. Schmidt, 81, a lifelong resident of Richwood, a man with talented hard working hands and a big heart, left his home on this earth on Monday, Aug. 3, 2009. He was born on July 3, 1928, son of Arnold Schmidt and Elsa Ihde Schmidt.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Richwood with the Rev. Clint A. Burow officiating. Burial will be in Richwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Leland is survived by his love of 17 years, Susan (Skolaski) Schmidt, whom he married on March 22, 1992, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Richwood. He had been married to Verna Vergenz, who preceded him in death in 1990.
He was a 1946 graduate of Watertown High School and was a dairy farmer most of his life.
Leland was an avid golfer, devoted Kwik Trip employee and dedicated family man. He was the man everyone loved talking to and went to when they needed a few words of wisdom. Leland served as Richwood town clerk for 36 years and was president of Richwood Cemetery for over 20 years. His home away from home was the Watertown Country Club, where he was a member for over 20 years. Although he enjoyed every moment he spent on his family farm where he was born and raised he also enjoyed vacationing in Florida and Arkansas.
Leland was baptized and confirmed at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Rich-wood, where he was a devoted lifelong member.
Leland is also survived by his sister, Pauline (Rev. Jackson) Petrie of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law, Mike (Debbie) Skolaski of Beaver Dam; sisters-in-law, Theresa (fianc Dick) Meyers of Beaver Dam and Mary (James) Sinicin of Jefferson. Leland will be missed by many nieces and nephews whom were all very special to him and he always made sure to give each and every one of them the love and attention they deserved.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mary M. Tietz, 88, of Watertown, passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She fought a courageous battle with cancer.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Brian Wilk officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery, Water-town.
Visitation will be held at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m., and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Mary Magdelon Checkai was born in Watertown on Sept. 16, 1920, daughter of Frank and Anna (Brussbach) Checkai. She married Palmer Tietz on Sept. 22, 1945, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Watertown. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1982.
Mary was a 1938 graduate of Watertown High School. She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Watertown, Richwood Veter-ans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post No. 7852, and the Watertown Senior Center. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards with friends and spending time in the coffee shop at Mueller Apartments. She also enjoyed bingo and going on senior trips.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Judy (Richard "Butch") Kruesel of Watertown; a son, Richard (Bonnie) Tietz of Watertown; eight grandchildren, Tim Kruesel, Holly Junker, Joey Kruesel, David Tietz, Frank (Mindy) Gruling, Dan (Karen) Gruling Pat (Lynda) Gruling and Troy (Sarah) Zimdars; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo Checkai of Watertown; two sisters, Rose Marie Steinacker of Watertown and Delores Prah of Billings, Mont.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Jodi Lynn Kruesel; two brothers, Herbert Checkai and Kenneth Checkai; and two sisters, Margaret Rizzardi and Cath-erine Mundschau.

Marilyn J. Moran
On Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, Marilyn J. Moran, precious wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and "big sis," was at home when she passed away peacefully, at last free to rest in the arms of our most loving God.
Marilyn was born on Jan. 9, 1935, in Greenland, Mich., daughter of Walter and Ellen Huhti. Marilyn grew up in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, proud of her independent spirit that was rooted in her Finnish heritage and "SISU."
On Nov. 20, 1954, she married E. Al Moran at Selfridge Air Force Base in Mount Clemmons, Mich. Eventually, Marilyn and Al settled in Watertown where they raised their five daughters. Mom was always quick to volunteer her time and talents to help her girls foster their own independent spirits.
After family, one of Marilyn's greatest joys was her work with the elderly. She was the activity director for the Watertown Funster Club for 18 years and then an activity assistant at Beverly Terrace for 24 years. She was an active member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Watertown Lady Elks, and a former member of the Christian Mothers and Altar Confraternity.
Survivors include her husband, Al of Watertown; her five daughters, Joyce Moran of Madison, Cathy Moran of Baraboo, Cherie (Gary) Temple of Madison, Patricia (William) Verridan of Water-town and Teresa (Paul) Kallstrom-Parker of Appleton; her cherished grandchildren, Jennifer (Kyle) Heimerl, Laura, Brooke, and Rebekah Kallstrom, Lee Parker, Grace and Gabriel Stauffacher and Taylor, Sydney and Jack Temple; her great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Iverson and Gavin; two brothers, Dale Huhti of Watertown and Russell Huhti of Greenland, Mich.; sisters-in-law, MaryAnn Moran and Sharon Moran; along with special nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Eli Huhti; and a sister in law, Chris Huhti.

Raymond L. Tessmann, 91, of Watertown, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Golden LivingCenter in Watertown.
Ray was born July 17, 1918, in the town of Emmet, son of Emil and Hedwig (Drewlow) Tessmann. He married Arvada Jeche on Sept. 14, 1940, in Watertown.
Ray worked at Waukesha Motors and Creamery Package in Lake Mills for a number of years. In 1954 Ray found Christ as his personal Lord and savior and was born again, changing his direction and purpose in his life. He was a church builder with Wisconsin Independent Baptist Missionary Grant Rice. Ray was instrumental in starting and pastoring in a number of churches including: in 1960 Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown began in the basement of his home at 1500 Center St., Watertown, where he is a charter member; Emmanuel Baptist Church in Elkhorn; Rock Lake Baptist Church in Lake Mills; and Chicago Heights Baptist Temple in Chicago Heights, Ill. In 1995 he did a missions trip to Ukraine, Russia, with the Baptist Inter-national Evangelistic ministries.
Survivors include his wife, Arvada Tessmann of Watertown; two sons, David (JoAnn) Tessmann of Indi-anapolis, Ind., and Richard (Isabel) Tessmann of Ster-ling, Ill.; two daughters, Joan (David) Nowak of Franklin and Nancy (Ronald) Spiegel-hoff of Oconomowoc; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Albert; sisters, Esther Witt-chow and Ruth Dobbratz; and brother-in-law, Dean Jeche.

OCONOMOWOC - Martha "Marti" A. Joers, 66, passed away Friday, July 31, 2009.
Marti was the beloved wife of Tom for nearly 41 years. She was the companion of Patches, her beloved dog; sister of Ronald Yaudes; sister-in-law to John (Carol) Joers and Jane (Doug) Owsiany. She was an aunt to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great-niece. Marti is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
Marti was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law and a niece, Lisa.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Oconomowoc. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service on Thursday in Glenview Memorial Gardens.

She was born Jan. 28, 1947, in Oconomowoc, the daughter of Raymond Hollatz and Florence Seamandel. On June 1, 1968 she married Myron Schmidtke in Oconomowoc. She worked at the Ixonia Frontier F.S. for 17 years. Shari was a Meadow Woods Lioness, enjoyed her flowers, bowling, camping, watching softball games in Ixonia and being with family and friends. She was a member of Divine Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her children, Paul (Holly) Schmidtke of Delafield and Amy (Johnny) Prill of Waterford; three grandchildren, Anya, Bret and Preston; two sisters, Judith (Wesley) Kehl of Ixonia and Patti "PJ" (Barry) Weissenborn of Oconomowoc; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and just last November her husband Myron.
