TAMPA, FL -- There's lots to do this weekend in the bay area. If you want to get out of the house, here is a list of some of the things you can do!
Children's Gasparilla Extravaganza
When: Sat Jan 23
11 a.m. - Vendors and children's activities open along Bayshore Blvd., from Bay to Bay to Watrous/Orleans Avenues.
11 a.m.-2 p.m. Bicycle Safety Rodeo presented by The Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee of Hillsborough County and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Located along Bayshore, between Albany & Gunby (near Rome Ave.), the Bicycle Rodeo is free to everyone interested in learning how to bicycle safely with traffic. Kids will be fitted with a free, brand new bicycle helmet they can keep (while supplies last), and then use one of the Rodeo's bicycles to ride through a fun course which teaches skills that may one day save their lives.
2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Gasparilla Preschooler's Stroll Beginning at Bay to Bay Blvd. and ending at Howard, the Gasparilla Preschooler's Stroll will feature Tampa Bay's youngest pirates. Children five and under have their own chance to strut their stuff along beautiful Bayshore Boulevard. Look for the best little pirate attire and specially decorated wagons, bicycles and strollers, in this new Gasparilla tradition.
3:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Gasparilla Air Invasion -Features a precision parachute jump from the United States Special Operations Command Jump Team.
3:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Children's Gasparilla Parade -The parade begins at Bay to Bay and Bayshore, proceeds north along Bayshore,
and ends at Watrous/Orleans Avenues & Bayshore.

7:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. "Piratechnic" Extravaganza - Enjoy the largest "Piratechnic" display of the year as the imaginary sea battle between the
pirates of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla and the City of Tampa is recreated.
Tampa Bay Home Show
When: Saturday and Sunday, January 23 & 24

Sunday in the Park" Ribbon Cutting at Hixon Waterfront Park
When: Sunday, Jan 24 @ 1:30pm
Where: Riverfront Park, Tampa
City of Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio and Skanska USA Building President/CEO Bill Flemming are co-hosting a special ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the brand-new Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. As part of "Sunday in the Park", live entertainment
and activities for children will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the official ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony to follow at 2 p.m. Both events are open to the general public. Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, which includes Skanska USA's Tampa Museum of Art project (grand opening ribbon cutting on Saturday, February 6), features a children's playground, fountains, a dog area, riverfront stage and a breathtaking view of the University of Tampa.
Gem & Jewlery Show

India International Film Festival

Suncoast Sports Fest

Where: Fairgrounds Expo Hall and Sweetbay Entertainment Hall.
Coaches and athletes from across the country will participate in competitions including boys and girls gymnastics, cheerleading, karate,
Tae Kwon Do, dance, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline, tumbling and baton. Event times on Saturday and Sunday are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Competition times vary by category.
Admission prices for a single day are $12 for adults (ages 18 and older), $8 for children (ages 6-17), and kids ages five and younger are free. A weekend admission pass is $17 for adults or $13 for children. CASH ONLY is accepted for admission. Parking is $5 per car and $10 per RV or bus. Historic Baker House Hosts Open House

Where: Moog Road in Holiday
The oldest "cracker" house in west Pasco County will open for tours on Saturday, Jan. 23. The historic Baker House, located on Moog Road in Holiday. The event is free and will include a small plant sale outside. The Elfers Centennial Library, located on the same property, will hold a book sale on the 23rd as well.
Built in 1882, the Baker House was restored in the early 1990s and opened to the public as a museum in February 1993. Due to a lack of volunteers to staff the museum, the doors were closed about two years ago. The Baker House was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on Feb. 14, 1997.

Monster Jam

For the first time in the Tampa Bay area, Feld Motor Sports, Inc. will present two Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® events at Raymond James Stadium. Raymond James Stadium will erupt on both nights, January 23 and February 6, when 1,500 horsepower, 10,000-pound Monster Trucks compete in Side-by-Side Racing, as well as the fan-favorite Freestyle competition, where trucks will go one at a time and have 90 seconds to awe the crowd with huge big-air jumps, wheelies, truck spinning donuts, and the destruction of cars, vans, buses, and even motor homes.
